The Residence Inn by Marriott receives mixed reviews, with cleanliness and maintenance consistently cited as significant concerns. Recent experiences suggest issues with pests, outdated facilities, and unreliable services, including WiFi and appliances. While some guests appreciate the location and helpful staff, the overall quality falls short of expectations.
I stay here a lot because it's convenient, but it's actually not very good. The bathrooms are dirty. The staff isn't that nice. The breakfasts are horrible and to wash your clothes you still need quarters for the machines. This is 2026 Marriott. I stay here for up to multiple weeks at work and it's like pulling their teeth to get them to clean your room or do anything.
Is the hotel somewhere to rest? Absolutely. However, the hotel is in need of a renovation. Badly. A few comments: - The couch in our room was a sleeper and you could have thrown a backless, metal bench in there and it would have been more comfortable. I ended up going to the front desk and getting several pillows to put on the couch in an effort to make it comfortable. - The elevators were down when we arrived. Normally, that would have been fine had I not been on a post-op weight limit and no rooms on the first floor. However, the front desk attendant was extremely helpful and helped with my suitcase. - Speaking of chairs, boxes would have been preferred to the two chairs at the table in the room - also not even a decent seat. - The WiFi is horrible and that's using the "high speed" as an Elite member. The TV was unable to stream anything. I ended up hotspotting off my phone because the WiFi could barely do email. - The rooms themselves are dated and need attention. By dated, I mean the shower is in rough shape, functionally. Same with the sink. The fridge is good! - The AC was either freezing or too hot, no middle of the road. However, that's somewhat typical with most hotels.
The rooms overall are good. The heat is not working correctly and even though we set it for 68 we woke up to 77 with heat blowing out. When we turned on the air conditioner it smelt like it was burning. The main lobby is nice but the elevator was broken at least twice during our stay. I asked for fresh towels and could only get two of the ones I asked for. The first morning they ran out of plates and I had to ask for more. All the milk was expired. The next time they had no milk except for by the coffee for creamer and oat milk. They never had any fruit and the breakfast was very minimal compared to other Residence Inns. The juice machine was also broken during our stay.
One of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. My stay at this property has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. I am here on a work trip from November 30 to December 31, and despite having 10 days remaining, I’ve reached the point where I’m simply going to tough it out rather than deal with additional disruptions. On my first day, I was assigned Room 119 on the ground floor. On the second day of my stay, when I went to heat leftovers in the microwave, I discovered roaches inside the microwave. I immediately reported this to the front desk. At that time, I was informed that housekeeping had already found roaches in another guest room a few days prior, and I was told that some of them must have made their way into my room. I found it extremely concerning that I was placed in a room despite a known pest issue in nearby rooms. I was also told that no other rooms were available that night and that I would need to wait until the next day to be moved. The following day, after returning from work, I was relocated to Room 222 on the second floor. Unfortunately, two days later, while taking a shower, I noticed roaches coming up through the shower drain. This was extremely alarming, especially considering that the original infested room was directly beneath this one. I reported the issue again and was asked to speak with the manager when they arrived at 10:00 AM. After that conversation, I was finally moved to a suite in the west wing, far from the original rooms. For the first time, I felt somewhat comfortable and thought the situation had been resolved. After three days in that room, I received a notice slipped under my door stating that the boiler had broken, and there would be no running hot water for four days. As a temporary solution, the hotel arranged for me to stay overnight at another Marriott property across the street so I could shower. On the second day, I checked out of that temporary room, returned to the original hotel to pack a few belongings, and then drove to San Jose to stay with a cousin until Sunday night, as continuing to stay under these conditions was not reasonable. When I returned from my cousin’s house, I collected my dirty laundry and entered the elevator. During that trip, the elevator stopped working, and I became trapped inside. I immediately called the front desk to report that I was stuck. While pressing the open door button and the third-floor button, the doors eventually opened and I was able to exit. Although I was not physically injured, this incident was extremely distressing and added to an already unacceptable experience. Between being moved multiple times, encountering roach infestations in more than one room, losing hot water for several days, being forced to stay at another hotel and leave town temporarily, and then becoming stuck in a malfunctioning elevator, this stay has been exhausting and far below the standards I expect. This experience has significantly impacted my comfort, sense of safety, and ability to focus on my work. Overall, this has been an awful and deeply disappointing stay.
My wife and I sat here every year when we come to Vacaville to visit family. The property is always well kept and the interior is always fresh smelling and clean. The employees are very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend a stay here. P. S. The waffle press in the dining room makes great breakfast waffles. ?
COCKROACHES EVERYWHERE. ON THE WALLS, IN THE HALLWAY & ROOMS. I don’t know how these reviews are getting published as 4 stars. This hotel sucks. Every hallway is DIRTY. DONT mention trash bags or the front counter will roll their eyes at you. Who doesn’t have trash bags in a hotel? Are you serious? Then you have to pay additional parking fee but they aren’t responsible for any damage to your vehicle if it happens to get broken into. What am I paying a parking fee for? You aren’t watching my vehicle. The “free” internet is garbage and you have to PAY for upgraded internet. Seriously?? THE STAFF ARE SO ENTIRELY RUDE. every staff member I’ve interacted with and I’ve been here for a week, has been so extremely UNHELPFUL & RUDE. I can keep going. The shower leaks water everywhere and when brought to the attention of the front desk they said “oh yeah, we just have the guests put down more towels to absorb the water” excuse me?? The water spills out from the bathroom into the room onto the CARPETED floor. The rooms smell like cat food. The dust everywhere is evident they dont move any furniture to clean behind ANYTHING. This is what your money will get you at this place, a whole bunch of nothing and a huge huge avoidable headache. DO NOT GO HERE. NOT EVEN FOR A ONE NIGHT STAND. AVOID THIS HOTEL. THE 4 STAR REVIEWS ARE FAKE.
The negative reviews of this place are dead on. I stay in hotels all year. This is the most rachet one I’ve ever stayed in. The beds are horrible. There are stains all over the floors and furniture the elevator doesn’t work. The rooms stink it took them 4 tries to get me in a room that didn’t have a temprory window unit or a hole in the window or that didn’t smell like A st Bernard dog before I’d stay this place is absolutely in need of being burned to the ground and rebuilt It’s gotten out of hand here. I’ll sleep in my truck before i ever stay at this place ever again. Gross.
Nice rooms- the pull-out mattress was awful so get a 2 bedroom suite if you need more sleeping space! Bed was very comfortable. Staff was exceptionally helpful, especially Aaron in maintenance and Marcia in the kitchen. I didn't catch a name, but housekeeping staff was also very courteous. Located in the backyard of shopping centers- easy to walk to the shops and gas station for any late night snacks needed. The pool is heated, but no hot tub. Based on old photos, it looks like the hot tub was removed and replaced with a bathroom and fitness center which was kept very clean. Thank you for making our trip special!
This hotel is OK but definitely not to the standard. No towels in the gym even after notifying the front desk. Asked for early check in but could not accommodate with 5 hours heads up although the hotel is not full. If you are looking for just a place to lay your head for the night, this place is decent. If you are looking to use the amenities like the kitchen, fitness center or laundry, you might be disappointed in the lack of maintenance.
